Important Actors
Three important organisations play a key role in contributing to the success of SASUF+. The SASUF Student Network has actively participated in developing the project proposal and have a major role in upcoming activities. Students are integrated into the steering mechanisms of the project, partake in Research & Innovation Weeks and benefit from funding calls.
The Swedish Foundation for International Cooperation in Research and Higher Education (STINT) and the National Research Foundation of South Africa (NRF) are key partners in SASUF, as they represent the national systems for research funding and internationalisation in Sweden and South Africa, respectively. STINT enables long-term support for the internationalisation of Swedish higher education, while NRF plays a crucial role in strengthening research capacity and coordination in South Africa. Together, they provide legitimacy, funding, and strategic direction, which are essential for building sustainable and mutually beneficial partnerships within SASUF.
SASUF benefits from strong support and effective collaboration with the embassies in both countries. By jointly organizing and disseminating project activities, embassy involvement in SASUF+ serves to facilitate and encourage involvement of key stakeholders outside of academia. Having project activities form a part of the official programme of each country serves to make them appeal to a diverse group of stakeholders.
