Mangosuthu University of Technology joins SASUF

In continuation of the work to strenghten collaboration between universities in South Africa and Sweden - SASUF welcomes Mangosuthu University of Technology (MUT) as one of the newest members of the project. The collaboration kicked off this summer with a visit to MUT from SASUF participants from Zululand University. The visitors included Professor Unathi Kolanisi, Head of the Department of Consumer Sciences, Nothando Qumbisa, a lecturer in the same department, and Andile Mthembu, a Master’s Student and chair of the SASUF student network. Accompanying the Zululand partners, SASUF project coordinator Helin Bäckman Kartal also joined the meeting.

As part of the visit, the guests were taken on a tour around the MUT campus and had the chance to view the newly constructed Faculty of Engineering. Following the tour, Kartal and the Zululand staff introduced the advantages of joining SASUF as well as what collaborative opportunities are made possible as an extension of the project.

MUT’s dedication to deepening internationalization, cooperation and sustainability parallell SASUF’s adherence to the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The shared goals mark an auspicious start for the welcoming of the university to the project.
