SASUF Research and Innovation Week 2023

The Research and Innovation Week is a concept of bringing together researchers, teachers, students, university management representatives, and so many more from all the 40 SASUF partner universities.

The week was divided into two parts: Satellite events taking place all across South Africa, and the Sustainability Forum hosted by University of the Western Cape.

Poster presentations at the SASUF Sustainability Forum, Cape Town

The poster session is a visually enticing presentation focused on an idea for collaboration or research interest that is of relevance to both Sweden and South Africa. The posters presented acted as a pitch for a possible project.

While visiting the poster session, attendees were encouraged to think about the call for SASUF-NRF Seed Funding. This was perfect to have in the back of your mind when approaching researchers who were pitching their ideas to initiate collaborations!

Satellite Events

- Open for everyone


The Satellite Events were hosted all across South Africa by researchers, teachers and students, and in come cases toghether with local NGOs and organizations. The events were free and open to everyone.

Some were hosted in a hybrid format - allowing people from all over the world to attend!

SASUF Sustainability Forum, 29-31 March 2023
Hosted by the University of the Western Cape

The Sustainability Forum was not a public event, it was only open to nominated delegations from the SASUF Partner Universities. It was held at the University of the Western Cape, Cape Town, on 31-29 March 2023.

To the right, you can see an overview of the schedule for the three days. The Wednesday started off with lunch and registration for all delegates, followed by a session about funding opportunities targeted towards both South African and Swedish researchers. Thereafter, there was a poster session for all the researchers that wish to initiate new collaborations between Sweden and South Africa.

Thursday and Friday was focused on the parallell workshops (about 6-8 parallell sessions per block). All sessions were available on the conference platform Sched. https://sasuf2023.sched.com/
